Protection of Personal Data
The ARGE Österreichischer Mehrweg-Weinflaschen-Pool respects the privacy of its users. All information is treated confidentially in accordance with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR, DSG, TKG). Data processing agreements are in place with service providers for technical implementation of defined activities; beyond that, your data will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent. In any case, data processing is carried out in accordance with applicable law based on the statutory provisions of Section 96(3) of the Telecommunications Act (TKG) as well as Article 6(1)(a) (consent) and/or (f) (legitimate interest) of the GDPR.
The ARGE Österreichischer Mehrweg-Weinflaschen-Pool collects personal data only to the extent necessary for a specific purpose. The information will not be used for any purpose incompatible with that purpose.

If you contact us via email (info@mehrwegweinflasche.at), the data you provide will generally be stored only for as long as necessary to process your inquiry and to address any follow-up questions, unless other legal grounds or reporting obligations of the data processors toward the Austrian Ecology Institute specify different retention periods.
Cookies

Server Log Files
Every visit to the website mehrwegweinflasche.at is recorded in a log file (server logs) along with the following data:
- IP address of the requester
- Request Details and Destination Address
- Name of the retrieved file and amount of data transferred
- Date and time of access
- Notification indicating whether the retrieval was successful
This data is used solely to ensure system security. No personal analysis or profiling takes place. The server logs are retained for six months. Data is transmitted only if an attack or unauthorized access to the Austrian Ecology Institute’s Internet infrastructure is suspected and the data must be forwarded to law enforcement agencies for investigation or prosecution.
Matomo
In order to analyze (anonymous) user behavior on its websites, the Austrian Ecology Institute uses an open-source web analytics application called Matomo. The analysis is based on server logs, but is conducted on a strictly anonymous basis. The IP addresses contained in the server logs are anonymized prior to analysis. This ensures that no personally identifiable information is present in the analytics system.
Integration of Social Media Platforms
On this website, you can connect with LinkedIn and Facebook. Data is only transmitted to the respective servers of these platforms once you click the corresponding buttons.
Information About Your Rights
You have the right to obtain information about the data we hold about you. In addition, you may request that your data be corrected or that its processing be restricted if there are any uncertainties that need to be clarified. You may object to the processing of your data. You may request that your data be deleted. You may request that your data be transferred to you in a machine-readable format. You may file a request to object to fully automated decision-making, except in cases where processing is based on consent, a contract, or existing legal grounds for processing.
You may withdraw any consent you have provided. Further processing of your data is not permitted as of that time; however, the lawfulness of the processing prior to the time of your withdrawal remains unaffected. This may result in us not taking your stated interests into account.
Retention Period for Personal Data
General Business Transactions: For tax and corporate law reasons, business-related documents must be retained for 7 years in accordance with § 132 of the Federal Tax Code (BAO) and §§ 190, 212 of the Austrian Commercial Code (UGB).
Procurement Procedures: Notwithstanding the requirements under public procurement law to retain data related to the procurement procedure for at least three years—or, in the event of a subsequent contractual relationship, for the duration of the contract—the ECJ ruling of November 26, 2015, Case C-166/14, MedEval, the long statute of limitations of 30 years under § 1489 of the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) must be observed with regard to data retention.
Inquiries, participation in events, or general contact without any other legal basis under the GDPR: Such personal data is deleted once the related activity (events, etc.) has concluded.
Data related to processing by public authorities: In connection with processing activities carried out by the federal government, data must be retained for ten years in accordance with Section 25(3) of the Office Regulations, unless the specific content of the file or statutory provisions require a longer retention period (Federal Archives Regulations).
Transfer of Data to a Third Country or an International Organization: We do not transfer any personal data to entities in third countries or to international organizations. However, for certain tasks, we use service providers who, in most cases, also use service providers that may have their headquarters, parent company, or data centers in a third country. A transfer is permitted if the European Commission has determined that an adequate level of protection exists in a third country (Art. 45 GDPR). If the Commission has not made such a decision, companies or service providers may only transfer personal data to service providers in a third country if appropriate safeguards are in place (standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission or the supervisory authority through a specific procedure) and enforceable rights and effective legal remedies are available.
We have also contractually agreed with our service providers that their contractual partners must always provide data protection guarantees in accordance with European data protection standards.
Data Protection Authority
You may submit any concerns as a complaint to the Data Protection Authority. On the Data Protection Authority’s website, www.dsb.gv.at, you will find further information, FAQs, and all relevant legal provisions governing data protection in Austria.
